Howden to Kirkton
Rock Ramp
Pools at Fraser Road
Howden to Livingston Village offers lots of mixed fishing from large deep glides to short shallow riffles.
A footpath runs the whole length of this section with plenty opportunities for anglers to get down to the river.
Some may find it more difficult to make their way down to the river side on this stretch as this beat is often less fished allowing vegetation to grow quickly covering potential access tracks.
If the conditions are right this stretch can prove to be very productive with some amazing quality Brown Trout being caught regularly.
There are plenty parking opportunities on this beat, some of the easiest access parking spots include:
Howden South car park is located just off of Howden South Road opposite Manitoba Avenue, Howden. There is also another car park approximately 250m West (Towards Livingston Civic Centre) of Howden South Car Park. Both of these car parks are just a short walk to the river bank.
Livingston Village Park Car Park -
Livingston Village park car park is located just down the lane from the Livingston Inn, where you can also pop in for a drink, lunch or evening meal. The car park sits adjacent to the tennis courts and is a good location for parking for fishing down stream towards the civic centre or upstream towards the large pools at Kirkton campus past Almond Valley Heritage Centre (which is also a good day out for the kids). The car park is small and can only fit a few cars however providing you park appropriately there is on street parking right beside the car park or a larger car park behind the Livingston Inn.
Livingston football stadium have a large car park that can be used as long as there is not a big event on, parking is situated to the side of the stadium, park here and you can venture over the footbridge leading towards the civic centre and go explore upstream or downstream for the chance of a hard fighting Brown Trout or even the chance of a migratory fish too!
